Veteran comedy actor Gattu Veeraiah who was popular as Potti Veeraiah passed away on Sunday due to cardiac arrest at a private hospital in Hyderabad. Veeraiah was 75 and he acted in over 300 films that include Tata Manavadu, Jaganmohini, Yugandhar and so on.
Veeriah acted in Hindi, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam films as well. He hails from Phanigiri Village of Suryapet District in Telangana. Started as a stage artiste, Potti Veeriah made his debut in films through Vittalacharya’s Aggi Dora in 1967. Since then, he went on to play comic dwarf characters in several films.
Besides, he had the opportunity to share the screen with legendary actors like MG Ramachandran, Sivaji Ganesan, Kantha Rao, Rajinikanth and Krishna. Several film celebrities from the South Indian film industries are condoling the death of the actor.
