‘Chalo’ and ‘Bheeshma’ fame Venky Kudumula was conned for Rs 60,000/- on the pretext of applying Bheeshma for the National Award. The fraudsters duped Venky by asking him to apply the movie for the award as it dealt with the subject of Organic farming. He ended up transferring Rs 63,600/- as application fees. The director finally realised the fraudulent act and lodged a police complaint.
However, several have trolled the director by stating that the producer should be paying the processing fees but not him. So, Venky took to social media to clarify his side of the story. Sharing a note, the Bheeshma director wrote ‘A lot has been said about the issue I have faced recently. This is my side of the story… The Actual Story..’
Explaining how he was approached by a person named Naveen, the director explained the reason for paying the amount and also revealed how he sensed something fishy was happening.
At the same time, Venky Kudumula also mentioned that many friends suggested him to keep quiet on the issue and not to complain. But, he said that he complained to the police just to make sure that fraudsters don’t repeat it and also for others to be aware of conmen.
The Chalo director stated that being not alert enough is as dangerous as smoking and drinking and urged all to raise their voice against wrong things in society.
