SP Balasubrahmanyam Conferred with ‘Padma Vibhushan’

2020 is a tragic year for the entire world. But for the Indian cinema, it created an irreplaceable loss by leaving a huge void by taking away the beloved SP Balu. The magnanimous singer lost his life battling Coronavirus. The singer was admitted to a Chennai hospital in August last year with Corona symptoms. However, he breathed his last with complications on the 25th of September.

The Central Government has conferred the second-highest civilian award ‘Padma Vibhushan’ to the legendary personality. Earlier, SP Balasubrahmanyam got ‘Padma Shri’ in 2001 and ‘Padma Bhushan’ in 2011. Incidentally, veteran playback singer Chitra is also awarded with ‘Padma Bhushan.’

SP Balahsumbrahmanyam, who will be fondly remembered as ‘Balu’ or ‘SPB’ also holds a Guinness Book of World Record by singing over 40000 songs. Besides, he won 6 National awards for playback singing and even got 25 Nandi awards in his career.

SPB is revered across the country irrespective of language and regional barriers, not only for just singing but also due to his respectable personality as well.
