Union Minister Prakash Javadekar announced today morning that Superstar Rajinikanth will be bestowed with the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke award. The actor who is known for being the epitome of styles is the third from the Tamil film industry to win this award after Sivaji Ganesan and Balachander.
PM Narendra Modi and several celebrities including Megastar Chiranjeevi congratulated Rajini over winning the award. Wishes also poured in from Kamal Haasan, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K Palaniswami, his deputy O Panneerselvam, DMK President M K Stalin and various other political leaders as well.
On this occasion, the 70-year-old actor thanked the centre for conferring the award. Above all, the humble star has dedicated the award to the bus driver who happened to be his friend Raj Bahadur, the actor’s elder brother Satyanarayana Rao Gaekwad and director Balachander.
In a long note posted on Twitter, Rajinikanth wrote ‘ I dedicate this award to my friend and bus driver Raj Bahadur who encouraged me by discovering my acting talent and to my elder brother Sathyanarayana Rao Gaekwad who struggled with poverty but toiled hard to make me an actor and to my guru K Balachander who created this Rajinikanth.’
