Nostalgic: ‘Gang Leader’ Brothers Meet after 30 Years!


‘Gang Leader’ will always have a special place in Chiranjeevi’s career as it unleashed Megastar in new style and grace by making him the epitome of mass image. The shirts he wore, the graceful movements in songs, and the stylish mannerisms he introduced were purely magical on-screen and mesmerized the Telugu audience to form beelines at the theatres, show after the show for months together.

In fact, it was also remade in Bollywood starring Chiranjeevi as ‘Aaj Ka Gundaraj’. There also it became a hit and that was the euphoria behind this movie. Murali Mohan and Sarath Kumar played his elder siblings in this family action drama filled with commercial elements and family emotions. The movie hit the screens during the hot summer on 9th May 1991 and set the cash registers ringing at the box office.

It has been 30 years since the movie has released. A special moment was captured on the occasion at Ramoji Film City when the trio who played the brothers came together.

Chiranjeevi was shooting for ‘Acharya’ in RFC. Simultaneously, Murali Mohan also happened to be in the film city shooting for a movie. At the same time, Sarath Kumar was shooting for Maniratnam’s film.

Knowing that Chiru was shooting in the nearby sets, Murali Mohan and Sarath Kumar joined the Megastar on ‘Acharya’ sets. And it is the first time all the three got together after three decades.

Realizing the importance of the moment, Chiranjeevi made to click the picture to cherish the rare occasion. Speaking about it, Murali Mohan shared his happiness and the picture with the audience on social media.
