Vijay Thalapathi enjoys a huge craze in Tamil Nadu. His latest release ‘Master’ which hit the screens for Sankranti on the 13th of January collected over INR 200 crores. The Telugu version that hit the screens on the same day also went onto become a success at the box office even with mixed talk.
The Lokesh Kanagaraj’s directorial venture should have hit the screens last year only. But it got postponed due to the pandemic lockdown. Meanwhile, the OTT platforms lured the makers with several offers to bag the streaming rights.
However, the producers stuck to release the movie in theatres and they did it. Finally, Amazon Prime Video has bagged the rights of the movie and officially announced that Master will stream on the OTT from 29th January.
As the movie is still making a good business in theatres, the distributors and exhibitors are urging to postpone its streaming on OTT.
It has to be seen whether their request will be entertained by the OTT platform or not.
