Amid the exponential spike in Covid cases during its second wave in Telangana, the theatres association has taken a pro-active step to close the theatres and multiplexes in Telangana from tomorrow. The association has taken the decision even before the Government put any restrictions keeping the safety of the audiences in mind.
After the lockdown, the theatres were opened with 50% occupancy following the central government’s guidelines and later it was relaxed to 100%. Many movies hit the screens during this period across India. But, the Tollywood enjoyed the maximum success with few blockbusters like Ravi Teka’s ‘Krack’, ‘Jati Ratnalu’, ‘Vakeel Saab’ and so on.
The state government shut down the schools and etc recently when Covid cases started spiking gradually. But left the theatres operate by stating that the industry suffered a lot and lakhs of people depending on it will find it tough to meet their ends if they are shut down.
However, the situation has turned volatile and the association opted to shut down the theatres from tomorrow. Many releases are already postponed and few are on the verge of going back on their release dates as well. Unfortunately, the sudden closure of theatres will definitely dent the finances of small budget movies that are planning to enjoy the space provided due to the postponement of big ticket movies.
