Sundeep Kishan has chosen a sports drama ‘A1 Express’ for his 25th film. The trailer helped to create much buzz among the audience. The story weaved around Hockey, it is said to be the first hockey based movie in Tollywood. Earlier, Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Chackde India’ made in Bollywood went on to become a huge blockbuster and also won several accolades as well.
Story/ Plot
A corporate company eyes the famous P Chitti Babu stadium facing the sea in Yanam due to its ideal location to set up a pharma company. The management approaches local politician Ramesh ( Rao Ramesh) to get this land of the stadium. However, the locals and the Yanam hockey team opposes the move.
Meanwhile, Sundeep Naidu( Sundeep Kishan) who aims to settle down in France visits his uncle’s place in Yanam from Vizag. There he happens to meet Lavanya Rao( Lavanya Tripathi) who plays hockey.
Sundeep immediately falls for Lavanya and he always tries to woo her. However, Sandeep has a traumatic past which he tries hard to forget. Subsequently, the Yanam hockey team had to struggle out of their skins to save their hockey ground. And whether they are able to succeed with the help of Sundeep in saving the stadium from corporate political clutches or not is the rest of the story.
Technical Aspects
The movie is made with good production values. Director Dennis Jeevan Kanukolanu did a fine job in his debut film. Above all, he canned the hockey match sequences aptly and they are very realistic in the climax. The camera work and the music complimented the film.
Artists Performances
Sandeep Kishan’s hard work has paid off to look realistic as a hockey player. He nailed his character perfectly throughout the film. Lavanya Tripathi looked sweet and played her part. Rao Ramesh and Murali Sharma excelled in their roles as a politician and a hockey coach respectively. Priya Darshi and Rahul Ramakrishna’s presence as childhood buddies of Sundeep has helped the film.

Final Verdict
Sports dramas always create special interest among the audience. Similarly, ‘A1 Express’ also repeated the magic in its own form. Overall, it is a nice movie with a good mix of politics, love, friendship and sports. A descent watch for all in theatres.
